Hybrid cars are on everyone’s lips. Twenty, forty, or fifty dollars for a full tank of gas? Who in their right mind wants to pay that sort of money? However, frustrated, the petrol consumer sighs, but pays up. However, hybrid vehicles are applauded for the small amount of gas they need to operate, and they are being driven off the lots of car dealerships each and everyday in increasing numbers.

However, what about a plug-in hybrid? Most drivers have heard that these vehicles are great as well. So, a person might be asking him or herself, what exactly a plug-in hybrid is? How they work, and what the difference between a plug-in hybrid and a regular hybrid is?

Plug-in hybrids are able to run just on batteries, but they use fuel also. These kinds of hybrid cars have some of the characteristics of hybrid vehicles. They are also are very similar to electric vehicles.

Plug-in hybrid vehicles need to be charged externally by plugging them into an electrical power source. The combustion engine of plug-in hybrid vehicles is engaged only as a back up. These cars can run only on batteries if desired, but it is expected that these types of hybrid cars be plugged in daily.

Hybrid cars can go just as many miles as a conventional car. Designed to go the extra mile where fuel-mileage is concerned, hybrids can be driven on the highway, in cities, or wherever else anybody needs to travel.

On the other hand, plug-in hybrids are designed to be driven commuter-type distances, meaning between twenty and sixty miles between destinations. This way, the plug-in hybrid does not have to use its back up combustion engine, but plug-in hybrids can go further using gas as well.

Hybrids help to reduce pollution, but they do still pollute the air. Compared with plug-in hybrids, hybrid cars still have a long way to go as far as pollution is concerned. Because plug-in hybrid cars can run solely on their battery power, they don’t have to emit waste gases at all.

Plug-in hybrids really do fight against greenhouse gas emissions and plug-in hybrids use virtually no oil, imported or not. Studies have shown that electric hybrids emit at least 67% less greenhouse gases compared to petrol cars. Since the product used to power plug-in hybrids is completely renewable, the difference in greenhouse gas emissions may be even greater than the study showed.

So there you have it – those are the major differences between plug-in hybrids and regular hybrid cars. It could make a big difference, but you would be surprised at how little it actually matters at the moment, but that’s only because plug-in hybrids are not being sold to consumers yet! But this article should make you excited about the wonderful plug-in hybrid car, coming soon to a dealership near you.

And it’s going to be a spectacular debut too. People already really like regular hybrid cars, but they haven’t seen anything until they see the new plug-in hybrid cars. However, for now, maybe they should just be satisfied with what they have, because who knows? Before plug-in hybrid cars come out, something even better might be introduced onto the market.

No, it is certainly not true that you will rise to fame and fortune if you go and buy a hybrid car. But a hybrid car is not only a vehicle for the rich and famous. However it might be a good idea for you. Many famous people are driving hybrid cars these days including some of the most famous people on the planet like your favourite film stars. However the main question is, should you be driving a hybrid car in the first place?

Are you driving anything like a hybrid car? Well, if you are not, you can’t rub noses with some of these hybrid car-drivers. These people were early drivers of hybrids cars. You may not see them in a hybrid vehicle when they pull up next to you on Rodeo Drive, but believe me, they’ve owned a hybrid car before. Well, trust me or not they have been reported as driving hybrid cars in the past.

Alicia Silverstone This star definitely isn’t clueless about the environment. She knows that driving hybrid cars has many benefits. And if the general public doesn’t have the understanding that she has, then that’s just too bad. Alicia knows that hybrid cars are good for the environment and therefore for everyone. So Alicia Silverstone got herself a hybrid car. So she has helped promote this new technology as far as this article goes.

Ellen DeGeneres Well, this funny lady not only has a great haircut, but she was driving a great hybrid car before you probably even knew about hybrid cars. She was probably smiling at you and your gas-guzzler last time she wizzed past you.

Robin Williams Funny and sweet, Robin knew when he played the role of Mrs. Doubtfire that he should probably start thinking more like the sensible driver that you would allow to take your kids to and from school, so Robin got himself a hybrid car, and he hasn’t looked back since.

Ted Danson Cheers! Ted knows a great car when he sees one. He was certainly sober the morning when he decided to go check out the new cars on the forecourt. He got up and bought a car that made a great deal of sense. He was making good sense when he chose a hybrid car.

Brad Pitt What’s up? Certainly, not Brad’s petrol bills ‘cos he’s got a hybrid engine! He’s had a hybrid car, so he knows his car isn’t using too much petrol.

Prince Charles Why, surely, if it’s good enough for royalty, then it’s good enough for the rest of us? That’s how you should feel when you drive a hybrid car. You should feel royal, adorned, and envied because believe it or not, that’s exactly what you are when you choose to drive a hybrid vehicle. So enjoy it.

So, how do you feel? Like a million dollars? Well, you ought to if you are thinking of buying a hybrid car and don’t worry, you won’t get your 15 minutes of fame, but you will be making a very bold statement that people will understand and many people will appreciate what you are doing and that will go on for years and years because hybrid cars last for decade or more.

Consumers recently have been able to find a great deal more classic GMC pickups for sale than has been seen in the past. Maybe it is the bad economy.. Depending on how you label “old”, or as some call “classic” trucks, an older GMC pickup is tough to beat.

When you are shopping around for a used classic truck, frequently the best place to go is to your community newspaper classifieds. The fact is that this is where you will be able to uncover the deals that are really nearby to your home, but this is fast becoming an outmoded method for finding older trucks being sold. Today, the internet is the easiest method to get what you want in your quest to find even local used vehicles for sale.

Of course, I graciously recommend my own classic vehicle classifieds site, Buy Old Cars.com, but there are a lot of other places on the Web to come across that special classic you have been looking for. Amid the different internet car ads sites include eBay motors, Craig’s list, and a whole host of alternative classic car sites all over the web.

When searching for a classic truck on the Web, just be aware of the fact that not everything is true on the Internet. You need to do your research. Get a sense for the people who are saying they are selling a particular truck. Never send money to ship a car or truck sight unseen. Go see the vehicle in person. Just be smart.

People who prefer a GMC truck, are people that require a high quality of vehicle to ride around in. They really want excellence in their truck.

An old classic GMC truck is no different in terms of excellence. Consumers who collect those old trucks are not easily won over by other kinds of trucks. From the front fender to the back taillights, the value is there! Buy a classic GMC truck through the web!

Find a 1971 GMC Ton Pickup For Sale – Rare Toolbox Model for sale at BuyOldCars Classic Car Classifieds You are welcome to reprint this article – but get your own unique content version here.

The appeal and popularity of the hybrid car have grown exponentially, especially with the growing concerns about high fuel prices as well as worsening air pollution. Here are some useful bits of information that could help you learn more about hybrid cars and how they may help you save money on gas and be somewhat protected from rising fuel.

A hybrid car is the type of car, or any other vehicle, that makes use of at least two different fuel sources to make it go. Both fuel sources are used together sometimes to help propel the vehicle more efficiently. There are several different combinations of hybrid car possible, but the most common hybrid car so far is the gas electric hybrid.

The gas-electric hybrid car, also known as the hybrid electric vehicle or HEV, makes use of a gasoline internal combustion engine or ICE and a separate electric motor to power it. While the ICE makes use of gasoline to make it run, an electric battery is used to store the electrical energy that powers the hybrid car’s electric motor.

The HEV usually has a gas engine that is smaller in size and weight than the conventional one used in standard gas powered cars. Use of more advanced technology makes this possible and allows the HEV to have better running efficiency as well as substantially reduced polluting emissions.

Aside from the petrol engine, the hybrid electric car also has a special electric motor built in that not only provides additional power to the car but also acts as a generator when not being used. The electric motor can act as a generator, in situations where it is not being used to drive the hybrid car, to help charge the battery for added efficiency.

In a usual HEV set up, the car uses its electric motor when being propelled at very low speeds, say, in heavy traffic. The gasoline engine acts as a secondary power source when the HEV needs much more power, such as when climbing a hill. The gas engine also compensates the electric motor with power whenever the car calls for it in order to go faster such as when overtaking. The gas and the electric motor can also work together at certain instances when necessary.

Because the hybrid electric car uses both an electric motor as well as a gas engine, a substantial improvement in car mileage is achieved. A hybrid electric vehicle or HEV can run much longer distances using the same amount of petrol compared with a conventional gas powered vehicle.

Whenever the electric motor is being used, petrol consumption is reduced. This results in less petrol being used when running the same distance as a traditional petrol powered vehicle. And because the hybrid electric car has a smaller petrol engine, the hybrid car also runs more efficiently because of less engine weight compared to a conventional car’s engine.

The working parts of the hybrid car engine are also smaller and require less energy to move. This efficiency makes the hybrid electric car quite a great option for people concerned with rising petrol prices. Using a hybrid car can help drivers save a substantial amount of gaswhen traveling. Not only that, using the hybrid car can also help in reducing polluting emissions by using less gas while travelling.

If you need to know more about the technology in New Hybrid Vehicles, you should go along to our website where there is tons of information on http://new-hybrid-vehicles.com This and other unique content ” articles are available with free reprint rights.

Those considering purchasing a hybrid car may be more than a little concerned about what is under the hood. Hybrid cars have partially battery-powered motors. Since a battery-powered motor is not something that typically comes to mind when people think about what’s driving a car, it’s a good idea to get a good understanding of hybrid car battery packs. Below you will find a few facts about them.

Hybrid car battery packs do not require to be replaced like flashlight batteries do. They are made to last over the lifetime of the vehicle, and therefore a hybrid car’s warranty covers the battery pack for a time period that runs between eight and ten years. In terms of mileage, a hybrid car battery pack is expected to last between 150,000 and 200,000 miles, and it probably will last even longer than that.

The toxicity of hybrid car battery packs is a worry, but not a major problem, because hybrid car batteries use NiMH batteries, not the cheaper rechargeable nickel cadmium ones. Nickel cadmium batteries can be detrimental to the environment if not disposed of correctly, but the NiMH batteries that are sold in in hybrid car battery packs are very safe and fully recyclable.

Hybrid car battery packs consist of hundreds and hundreds of cells. Several hundred cells means that hybrid cars have a complex battery structure underneath their hoods, and, it is true, complexity usually means expensive, but with the generous warranty hybrid car manufacturers are giving on their vehicles, there is not much risk of additional massive expense from the battery pack involved in purchasing a hybrid car.

The number of hybrid car battery pack failures reported has been really very low. When I say low, I mean negligible. If failure does occur, it is usually before the hybrid car even leaves the lot. Toyota has even stated that some of its first Prius hybrid models have battery packs that have gone more than 300,000 miles.

The cost of replacing hybrid car battery packs isn’t really even an issue It isn’t an issue because the hybrid car battery packs are built to last. The Department of Energy looked into hybrid cars, but stopped its test when the capacity was “just like new” after 160,000 miles. So very few people really seem to know for sure what it costs to replace hybrid car battery packs.

Hybrid car battery packs are being developed very quickly. If we look into the near future, we can see the next generation of hybrid car batteries is already in development. The goal is, of course, to develop the technology so that it provides loads of power, lasts for the hybrid car’s lifetime, and costs less to make than it does these days.

If your hybrid car battery pack does develop a problem, there is a solution. Toyota has given some advice on what to do, should your hybrid battery pack run out after the warranty has expired. Their advice is to have the battery reconditioned. This solution works well because if something does go wrong, the problem usually lies with only one of the 28 modules that make up the battery.

The solution is to simply replace the depleted module with one that matches the chemistry of the hybrid car battery pack’s other 27 modules, your hybrid car’s battery should be back in good shape. You can buy a matching module by getting a battery pack from another hybrid car of a similar mileage and age.

When you pull up to the gas pump and fill your car up with $10-$50 worth of gas, you may find yourself releasing a long drawn out sigh. How on Earth did fuel become so expensive? Should you consider one of those new hybrid cars you saw on the news? Everyone’s talking about hybrid cars anyway. Hybrid cars and other types of cars may seem to be a good idea, but before you go out and do something you’ll regret, maybe you should ask yourself some questions about how you can begin to save on fuel.

Nowadays, there are so many options out there including everything from not going out to buying a hybrid car, but you have to find out what is best for you personally and you can best do that by posing yourself the following questions.

Maybe you should drive less mileage?

Of course, you could spend the rest of your life at home on the couch, but how would you get by then? I know what you’re thinking! You will walk more and so get more exercise. That may be true, but what will happen when you get bored with walking and riding your bike? How are you going to be able to get to the gym then? And, have you forgotten about work? You know you love listening to your books on tape while you are sitting in traffic at the end of the workday. Should you drive less? Probably not then. But what should you do? Well, have you ever considered buying a hybrid car?

Should I buy a car that gets more miles for less gas?

Yes, of course you could do this, but what about when the vehicle starts to get older and it becomes less fuel-efficient than you thought it would be? Moreover, because you know you have a car that is getting more mileage out of fuel, you are going to start travelling more miles than you travelled beforehand.

Should I get up earlier each morning to look for the cheapest gas prices in the area?

Really, who has the time for all that? If you really think about it, you could probably spend your time more profitably finding the right answer to the real question. Do you really want to spend extra time looking for a cheap gas station? What would your boss think if you arrive late for work and tell him you were trying to save money on petrol? And anyway, how long do you think you’ll keep doing that?

Should I find a way to run my car on electric?

Well, you certainly don’t want to have to recharge your car every day before you go to work because that might make you late too. With a hybrid car, you wouldn’t have to worry about that. Therefore, the next question should be obvious.

How about buying a hybrid car?

Maybe you should. It’s possible that buying a hybrid car could be a sensible way to avoid high petrol prices. Does your car depreciate after you drive it off the forecourt? A hybrid won’t do that so readily. It brings the buyer in more and more money as they save on gas. A hybrid car just might be a good choice here. However, it’s still a good idea to conduct further research on a hybrid car.

Just where did a hybrid car get it’s start? Well, read on to find out. Hybrid cars are very popular to today’s car buyers, and there are many reasons why. But before you even think about choosing a hybrid car to buy, you might want to know a little bit about the history of the hybrid car first.

Surprisingly, hybrid cars were around even before gas-powered cars. Back in about the year 1665, a Jesuit priest by the name of Ferdinand Verbeist began plans for a certain type of vehicle. That vehicle would be very simple, nothing complex, or intricate. Simple was all he wanted.

So Ferdinand planned out a car that would have four wheels and would run only on steam. It took about fifteen years of work for Ferdinand to go through with his plan. He laboured to perfect his dream car. But no one knows if he ever finished because there is no evidence that his concept ever came into existence.

Then in 1769, a man with the name of Nicholas Cugnot designed and developed a carriage that was powered by steam. This carriage really did work and it went at six miles per hour. This project was great, but it was difficult to get the amount of steam needed to allow the car to go any significant distance.

A break through in hybrid car development finally came when Robert Anderson developed an electric powered car in 1839. It was the first among its kind. The car was built in Scotland.

This electric car was a highly applauded innovation of its time. However, the only problem was that it was very difficult to recharge the car’s battery. Some pioneers came after Anderson, but they too had a hard time getting the battery recharged easily.

Eventually, in the year 1898, Porsche developed an electric and fuel combination combustion engine that was the first of its kind. The car was called the Lohner Electric Chaise and it could go for up to 40 miles just using its batteries.

Soon, pioneers combined both gas and a battery powered engines to power what would become today’s hybrid vehicle. In 1999, Honda made its jump into the US market. It came out with the Honda Insight, which was a lightweight two-door hybrid. Since then, hybrid cars have been evolving and improving into what we see on the market these days. Hybrid cars are no longer just for the techies who think it’s nice to combine battery and fuel power to get them where they want to go. Hybrid cars started out simple, and they are still quite simple today.

Now hybrid cars are becoming more and more popular as people understand them more. Hybrid cars in the 21st century saw a boom in sales when the Toyota Prius came out on the market. It was the first hybrid with four doors that was sold in America.

Soon afterwards, the Ford Escape hybrid became the very first SUV hybrid vehicle ever made. And so there it is in a nut shell, the history of the hybrid car – today’s most modern on road, mass-produced vehicle.

Today, time are tough financially. Families are struggling. Prices are escalating out of sight. Times like this can bring out the scam artists who prey on consumers who are desperate for a good deal. This is especially true for high dollar items like automobiles.

With all these swindlers and scam artists lurking just about anywhere, it is best to always be on guard and to know the things to be avoided in order to prevent the probability of being a victim of frauds and swindles.

Consequently, people who are buying used cars should also be aware of the different fraudulent activities being employed by unscrupulous people in order to have the best buy of used cars.

Car theft is a huge problem in this country. Fewer stolen automobiles are being recovered because of export rings and “chop shops”. Stolen cars are “stripped down” and sold for used auto parts. Sometimes the crooks even fit the cars with legitimate serial and registration numbers from old cars that had been destroyed previously. Stolen cars are sometimes discovered when a police officer apprehends the suspect for other reasons.

Shopping for a older car is no small undertaking. Be sure to keep these thoughts in mind when you set off to buy a classic car.

1. Go with your gut on transactions that are seemingly too good to be true. Every year, hundreds of ordinary car buyers purchase stolen automobiles and then face the possibility of police seizure of their new automobile.

2. Car buyers should steer clear of purchasing second-hand automobiles from sellers that do not provide a permanent address or the actual work phone number so you can do a brief background check.

3. It is imperative for a purchaser to check on the VIN or the vehicle identification number plate. It should be firmly fastened onto the classic car’s dashboard, with no rivets that are loosened.

4. Also, the buyer should also keep away from purchasing used cars that have VIN plates that are altered in any way, its paint is recently retouched, and the numbers look as if they are not the original factory numbers. VIN plates can be easily swapped by a crook and apply those that are taken from a wrecked vehicle.

5. As much as possible, it would be better to keep away from buying a second-hand car that is newly painted. There are instances wherein the stolen automobiles identity is being changed through changing its original color.

6. Used car buyers should avoid purchasing vehicles from a seller that cannot show the automobiles insurance policy. This could signify that the car is stolen or the peddler is not the authentic owner of the car.

It is exceedingly major for the consumers to take note of these thoughts prior to purchasing a used car. An bit of prevention actually is worth a pound of cure!

by Colin Jones

The cost of petrol continues to rise even now, but that does not mean that you have to be left penniless. You don’t have to let the unstable economy control your life! Take whatever measures you have to, to change the circumstances you are in: there are all types of options open to you.

For example, did you know that a hybrid car can help you gain more control of the money in your pocket? Well, it can. Hybrid cars are becoming more and more popular as the cost of fuel goes up, and the cost of hybrid cars is going down.

Fuel costs rise and petrol prices go down and the cycle just seems to repeat itself without giving us any respite. However, if you really take the time to think about it, that is not the case. It is all about how you think about the situation that counts. So don’t worry, be happy, and pay attention to the TV commercials about hybrid cars.

A hybrid car really will help you fight back against rising gas prices. If you bought a hybrid car after having had a conventional car, you will immediately notice that you have more money in your pocket with the hybrid car.

Nobody likes wasting their money. I know that I don’t, but that is exactly what you are doing if you stay with conventional cars. Hybrid cars or trucks can save you 50% on your fuel bills and that soon covers the premium that hybrids cars demand. Over the life of your hybrid, which is over ten years, you will make money on your purchase.

But work it out for yourself! Try this: write down the cost each time you visit the petrol station. What does the cost of a full tank of fuel tell you about your car? Whatever it is telling you, a hybrid vehicle won’t be telling you the same as a conventional car does. And that is for sure.

So, get your money to speak to you the way you would rather: instead of having it say to you all the time that your money is flowing out of your pocket, have it tell you, that some of it’s remaining in your pocket, so get a hybrid car.

Who toiled for those forty hours? You did, of course. So, make sure that you have something to show for it for a change. A hybrid car is a really nice car to have and it will be of real assistance to your bank balance.

It is a means of transport that is certainly not cheap to buy, but be reassured that it will pay for itself over its lifetime and over that lifetime you will have done a lot of good for the environment or at least a lot less harm) and people will have admired you from afar, even if they don’t actually come up to you and express their feelings in person.
